Getting Started
4 questions
How do I start with Skinat Tuition?+
You can start by booking your child's free first lesson or sending us an enquiry. We'll ask about your child's age, school stage, subject needs, confidence and goals — along with any relevant curriculum, exam board or qualification route — so we can recommend the most suitable small group, one-to-one or package option.
Is the first lesson really free?+
Yes. Your child's first lesson is completely free, so you can see whether the teaching style, pace and online format feel right before continuing. There's no pressure to continue afterwards.
Do I need to sign a long contract?+
No. Skinat Tuition uses clear monthly plans with no lock-in contracts. Families can continue, pause or stop in line with the agreed payment terms.
Can I speak to someone before booking?+
Yes. A short conversation helps us understand your child's learning needs, subject priorities and confidence before lessons begin. This is especially helpful for SEND-friendly tuition, home education support, GCSE/National 5 preparation and Post-16 study.

How It Works
Lessons & Teaching
5 questions
Who teaches Skinat lessons?+
Lessons are delivered by qualified UK teachers or suitable subject-specialist teachers, depending on the programme and level. Our approach is calm, structured and designed to support learning alongside school or home education.
Are lessons online?+
Yes. Skinat Tuition is an online tuition provider. Lessons are delivered live online, allowing families across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland to access structured teaching without travel.
How long is each lesson?+
Lesson length can vary by programme, age and plan. Primary pupils usually need a different pace from GCSE, National 5, A Level, Higher or Advanced Higher students, so exact lesson length is confirmed with you before the plan starts.
Can my child choose one-to-one or small group lessons?+
Yes. We offer both small group tuition and one-to-one tuition. Small groups are useful for structured learning alongside peers, while one-to-one lessons are better suited to more personalised support, specific gaps or focused exam preparation.
How many children are in a small group?+
Small groups are normally kept focused, usually around two to four pupils where appropriate. The aim is to keep lessons calm, interactive and manageable for both the teacher and the learners.

Yes. Sibling discounts or family packs may be available where two or more children from the same family join Skinat Tuition.
Can home education families book packages?+

Nations & Frameworks
UK-Wide Curriculum & Qualification Alignment
4 questions
Is Skinat Tuition UK-wide?+
Yes. Skinat Tuition supports families across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland through online lessons.
Is the teaching matched to my child's curriculum?+
Lessons are matched to your child's age, school stage, confidence, subject needs and relevant curriculum, exam board or qualification route — this is more accurate than assuming one single curriculum applies everywhere.
Why does Skinat avoid saying "National Curriculum across the UK"?+
Because England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland each have different curriculum and qualification frameworks. We use UK-wide wording while still tailoring support to your child's actual route.
Which exam boards can Skinat support?+
Support may be available for major exam boards and qualification routes such as AQA, Pearson Edexcel, OCR, WJEC/Eduqas, CCEA and SQA/Scottish qualification routes where relevant. Exact support depends on the subject, level and teacher availability.

SEND-Friendly Tuition
4 questions
Does Skinat support children with SEND?+
Skinat provides SEND-friendly academic tuition for learners who benefit from calm, structured, patient teaching. Support may be suitable for some learners with needs such as autism, ADHD, dyslexia, processing difficulties, anxiety around learning or low confidence, depending on whether online tuition is appropriate.
Does my child need a diagnosis to join?+
No formal diagnosis is required for a teacher to use calm, structured and supportive teaching strategies. However, Skinat does not diagnose, assess or replace specialist professional advice.
Can Skinat deliver EHCP provision?+
Skinat provides academic tuition support. It does not replace statutory EHCP provision, school-based SEND support, therapy, clinical input or specialist services.
Can teachers use EHCP, IEP or school targets?+
If parents choose to share relevant learning targets or school support information, Skinat teachers may use it to inform academic tuition planning where appropriate.

Home Education
5 questions
Do you follow the National Curriculum for home-educated children?+
Only if you want us to. We work with families following the Full National Curriculum, a partial curriculum, a topic-based approach, a child-led approach, or an unschooling-inspired model. We adapt our tuition to integrate with what you're already doing — and offer as much or as little structure as you want.
Can you provide reports for Local Authority reviews?+
Yes. We provide detailed termly progress reports that outline achievements, next steps and how your child is performing in relation to curriculum expectations. These reports are suitable for Local Authority checks, portfolio evidence and your own planning and record-keeping.
Can we book daytime sessions?+
Yes. We offer daytime slots specifically for home-educated pupils — making it easier for families to plan learning around their routines without having to compete for evening or weekend availability. Contact us to discuss available times.
Can my child join if we have no fixed curriculum?+
Absolutely. Many of the families we work with don't follow a fixed curriculum. We begin by assessing your child's current level and interests, and build a plan from there — as structured or as flexible as you need. We never impose a rigid schedule if it doesn't suit your family.
Can you support home-educated students taking GCSEs?+
Yes. We support home-educated learners through the full GCSE process — from choosing the right exam board and tier, to booking external exam centres, planning a realistic two-year pathway and delivering structured subject teaching. We guide both students and parents through every step.

Tracking Success
Progress & Reports
4 questions
How will I know whether my child is making progress?+
Parents receive updates so they can see what has been covered, what the child found easier or harder, and what the next learning priorities are. The format may vary by plan, but the purpose is always to keep parents informed.
Do you provide progress reports?+
Yes. Skinat can provide lesson updates, monthly summaries or termly progress summaries depending on the plan. Reports are clear, useful and linked to your child's subject stage, curriculum, exam board or qualification route.
Can reports be used for home education records?+
Progress updates can help parents keep organised learning records and understand what has been covered. Parents remain responsible for their home education arrangements, local authority communication and formal evidence requirements.
Will my child get homework?+
Some pupils may receive practice tasks, worksheets, revision activities or short follow-up work where useful. Homework should support learning without overwhelming the child.

Outcomes & Expectations
4 questions
Can Skinat guarantee grades or exam results?+
No responsible tuition provider should promise guaranteed grades or exam outcomes. Skinat focuses on clear teaching, steady progress, confidence, revision, exam technique and parent communication.
Can Skinat guarantee grammar school or university entry?+
No. Skinat can support preparation, subject knowledge and confidence, but school places, entrance test outcomes, university offers and final results depend on many factors outside the tuition provider's control.
How quickly will my child improve?+
Some families notice improved confidence or engagement quickly, while academic progress can take longer. The right pace depends on the child's starting point, attendance, practice, confidence and subject demands.
What makes Skinat different?+
Skinat combines qualified UK teachers, calm online lessons, structured learning, parent updates and UK-wide curriculum or qualification awareness. The tone is supportive, not pushy.

Qualifications
GCSE & Exams
3 questions
Which exam boards do you teach?+
We teach across all major GCSE exam boards — AQA, Edexcel, OCR and Eduqas (WJEC). Every lesson is aligned to the specific exam board your child's school uses, so teaching is always targeted and never generic. We also cover both Foundation and Higher tiers in Maths and Science.
Can you help with GCSE resits?+
Yes. We work with Year 12 students and adults resitting GCSEs in Maths or English. We begin from where the student is, identify the specific gaps from the previous attempt, and focus on the most efficient route to the grade they need — with clear exam technique built in from day one.
Do you provide exam technique and past paper practice?+
Yes. Exam technique is built into every GCSE session. We use past papers, mark schemes and examiner reports to ensure students practise questions that reflect exactly what they will face on exam day — including how to read questions, structure answers, manage timing and show working clearly.
